GRUPO BAOBAB was founded in 2022 by Hélio Mahanjane, Niven Persad and Nirmal Devchand with the objective of becoming the trusted local provider of best in class engineering and aviation solutions. By partnering with entities with more than 10 years of experience in the field of engineering and aviation, the company is well positioned to create tailor made solutions to suit the needs of our clients.
The company is based in Maputo, Mozambique and focuses in the following sectors: Oil and Gas, Water and Utilities, Power Generation, Mining, Aviation and Laboratory Sectors.
GRUPO BAOBAB shareholders joined forces to create a majority Mozambican owned business that would meet the local content requirements as well as empower Mozambican nationals within the country.

Qualified with B. Engineering in Civil Engineering
A multi-skilled entrepreneur and leader with over 25 years of experience in business development; formulating strategic plans of civil engineering projects; established entire operations with key focus on profitability of Highway Engineering, Quality Control/Quality Assurance of Bridges and Structural Works and Civil works projects on Energy sector.
He has extensive experience in contract management as well as quality control in the construction field, having worked as a site manager, site engineer on building, roads, and bridge projects.
Mr Mahanjane is familiar with the tender rules and procedures, both national and international institutions. He has also worked on project design, supervision of works, preparation of technical and financial proposals from the perspective of contractor and consultancy.
Niven Persad
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Shareholder in Grupo Baobab
Qualified with Honours in Finance and Marketing, and Mechanical Engineering (Design Systems).
15+ years experience in the design, manufacturing, and sales of engineering products for the Mining, Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, Water, and Pulp and Paper Sectors.
CEO, founder, and owner of VSA and operates projects in South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana, Swaziland, Mali, Uganda. VSA is a manufacturer and supplier of valves, piping and related equipment.
Niven has been involved in large scale projects with companies based in South Africa, Mozambique and other African countries. Projects ranging from SASOL Temane and Pande Gas fields, Sasol Loop line, Transnet NMPP/Multi Product Pipelines, mining projects, water and processing plants etc. These projects entailed the design and supply of products for these projects.

COO and shareholder of Vertical Solutions Africa Aviation and operates projects in Africa
CEO and controlling shareholder of Shesha Lifestyle and operates over 20 clothing stores in South Africa and also currently operates the NBA store in South Africa, and NBA Africa Ecomm delivering into 16 African countries.

30+ years of experience in the Hospital sector.
Executive Chairman and controlling shareholder of Lenmed Health Africa and operates hospitals in South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana and Ghana.
15+ years of experience with business in Mozambique
